HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplaces FAQ

Fireplace Basics

A.

“A ventless fireplace is a fireplace that does not have any chimney, flue, or exhaust system. The heat of a ventless fireplace remains in the space.”

A.

“HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplaces do not give off the harmful emissions of wood or gas fireplaces which is why HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplaces don’t require a chimney or venting of any kind, making them much more eco-friendly. Not venting saves considerable construction costs and allows for a greater flexibility in the placement of the fireplace and design of the project. These are just a few ventless fireplace pros.”

Fuel

A.

“HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplaces use proprietary nontoxic, isopropyl alcohol gel fuel cartridges. The fuel is similar to a hospital-grade hand-sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, or chaffing dish fuel. The alcohol gel fuel cartridges are single-use and pre-filled so there is never any pouring of fuel. Light the cartridges by removing the rubber stopper on the top of the cartridge and light the exposed gel fuel with a long butane lighter.”

A.

“With combustion of any type there are emissions. When lit, HearthCabinet’s alcohol gel fuel give off mostly water vapor and carbon dioxide, just like human breath. Trace amount of carbon monoxide are well below the 250 parts per million maximum at only 16 parts per million. They are far cleaner burning than wood or gas fireplaces.”

A.

“The alcohol gel fuel cartridges will burn themselves out once all of the gel fuel has been used up or can be extinguished with the metal snuffer plates, that come with your HearthCabinet, at any time.”

A.

“If you re-cap the alcohol gel fuel cartridges after being extinguished and left to cool they can be relit again. We find that the fire burns longer and higher when used entirely in one sitting.”

A.

“As lively as a wood fire in appearance, like a log, each cartridge lasts up to 2 hours. Lit with a long butane lighter, cartridges can be extinguished at any time with supplied snuffer plates or left to go out on their own. Room size and airflow can have an impact on the fire’s burn time.”

A.

“HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplaces’ isopropyl alcohol gel fuel is comparable in burn-time and emissions released to ethanol. However the isopropyl gel fuel provides a brighter golden flame in comparison and is much safer than liquid fuels.”

A.

“As much as we love s’mores, the answer is no. To ensure safe use, no foreign objects are allowed inside the fireplace and the door must be closed and locked at all times. Using the cartridges or fireplace other than as directed in our Safe Use document would void the fireplace warranty, approval in New York City, and present serious health and safety risks.”

A.

“HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplaces were designed with a proprietary fuel cartridge system that ensures safe use. Other than the alcohol gel fuel cartridges, the only other ‘fuel’ approved for use would be HearthCabinet’s Summer Candles with Candle Holder. The use of any other candles or fuel would void the fireplace warranty, approval in New York City, and present serious health and safety risks.”

A.

“The alcohol gel fuel cartridges cost less than $12 (prices may vary overtime). They come in cases of 8 and can be ordered online and shipped anywhere in North America.”

A.

“Each HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplace comes with one case of alcohol gel fuel cartridges. Cases of fuel cartridges can be ordered online and shipped anywhere in North America. Ordering information will be provided with the delivery of the fireplace.”
