Alcohol Gel Fuel Cartridges- Safe and Easy to Use

HearthCabinet’s patented, eco-friendly alcohol gel fuel cartridges ensure safe use and a brilliant flame. There is no smoke, embers, ash, or debris. No connections of any kind are needed unlike a wood or gas fireplace. Plus they’re easy to use, clean, and don’t need venting, so you can say goodbye to your chimney. The gel fuel is a clean-burning mixture of isopropyl alcohol, water, and a small amount of thickening agent, which is similar to hospital grade hand sanitizers or chafing fuels. Most of what is released is water vapor.

With a HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplace, the alcohol gel fuel cartridges are always safely nestled in a cartridge holder behind a locked safety screen. Lit with a long fireplace match or a butane lighter, the cartridges can be extinguished at any time with supplied snuffer plates, or they will go out on their own. Since the cartridges are single-use, you never have to worry about touching, pouring or mixing fuel. Like a log, each cartridge lasts approximately 2 hours. The crackling during the fire comes from small air bubbles that pop in the gel. These air bubbles are formed when our gel fuel is mechanically mixed.

If you would like to keep the fire going after the gel fuel has burned out, simply replace the gel fuel cartridge after it has cooled. If you would like to continue the fire at a later time, before they have burned out, you can cap the gel fuel canisters once they’ve cooled and simply give them a good shake the next time you want to continue the fire.

Using Alcohol Gel Fuel Cartridges

To use the gel fuel cartridges, simply place the cartridges into the empty slot in the cartridge holder. Then use the opener provided to remove the caps from the cartridges. Wipe off the excess gel on the canister’s inside lip and save the caps closeby to close, remove, and recycle the cartridges once the gel fuel has burned out. Then hover over the cartridges with a long lighter and ignite the gel fuel.

The fire will start low and build up over the first 15 minutes of burn time. The flame will stay high during the majority of the burn time and then get  lower over the last 20 minutes of burn time until they eventually go out on their own. Empty aluminum fuel cartridges can be tossed in the recycling bin after about 10 minutes or when they’ve cooled.

While ventless fireplaces are not meant to heat your space, HearthCabinet Ventless Fireplaces do give off a comfortable atmosphere of ambient heat to be enjoyed by the fireplace. Each gel fuel cartridge provides 5,000 BTU’s. All of our standard models can hold up to 2 gel fuel cartridges except for our smallest unit which holds one gel fuel cartridge at a time. The larger standard units give off more heat by using up to 2 gel fuel cartridges for a maximum of 10,000 BTU’s. And since no chimney or venting is required, all of the heat remains in your room.
